Captain //Storm Higgo
Hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, Captain Storm worked his way up through the yachting ranks to his current MCA 3000GT Masters Certificate on busy travelling yachts, most of them Feadships. Some of the more far flung destinations Storm has been fortunate enough to cruise through include Alaska, French Polynesia, New Zealand, the Persian Gulf and South America. In addition to his extensive yachting experience Storm is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, having taught SCUBA in the Red Sea, SE Asia, the UK and the Mediterranean. Storm is passionate about delivering first class service and all things nautical, and will ensure your stay onboard M/Y Broadwater is an unforgettable experience. When Storm isn't at sea he can be found at home with his wife and their two children.
First Officer // Mark Jones
From Wales in the United Kingdom, Mark has been a keen sailor since the age of 7, representing the UK in a variety of classes in dinghy racing. Having been a member of the Royal National Life Boat Institute for 3 years, he gained experience in boat handling and working under pressure. Mark worked his way up in the yachting industry, working on large 252ft, 200ft and 180ft yachts acquiring both private and charter experience. He has gathered vast yacht location berth and anchorage knowledge, including, but not limited to the Black Sea, the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Adriatic Sea. In 2011, Mark completed his MCA 3000gt Chief Mate license and has his 3000gt Master license. Mark loves all things pertaining to the sea and will ensure that your time spent partaking in seafaring activities is thoroughly entertaining and safe.
First Officer // Luke Hodge
Originally form Brisbane, Australia, Luke studied marine biology and ecology before moving into the pet industry and specializing in fish, birds, reptiles and aquariums. However eventually his love of the water drew him to the sea and yachting. Luke started his seafaring adventures in 2008, and since then has cruised extensively around the Caribbean, East Coast USA, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Montenegro, Croatia, the Maldives and most memorably Thailand. His service has included time aboard Pegasus II, Fortunate Sun, Latitude, Titania, Lady May and Pegaso (now Naia). When not aboard he likes to venture to new places, anywhere lush green and wild and preferably where there is great diving and fish to be caught! Luke has a Chief Mate 3000 and is actively working towards his Masters ticket for 2017.
Bosun // Mark Patterson
Mark is from Adelaide, South Australia. He studied a Bachelor of Business specializing in Hotel and Resort Management at Le Cordon Bleu and The University of South Australia. After initially working in numerous five star hotels, he most recently spent 3 years selling Real Estate in the Beachside suburbs of Adelaide. Mark discovered the yachting industry while holidaying in Europe, which led to his first job as a deck hand aboard Broadwater. He has been with the program since and is incredibly proud to now be the Bosun on Broadwater.
Deckhand // Gareth Suckling
Gareth is originally from Durban, South Africa, though he grew up in Maryland from the age of 8 years old. He pursued general studies in college for two years and upon finishing school he transitioned into a role in his fathers carpentry business, though he had truly started learning the trade long before college and hence massed over 10 years of carpentry experience before following his love of the water onto his first job on a yacht with team Broadwater. To say that Gareth is excited to be here is an understatement. In his down time you will find him playing soccer, surfing and fishing.
Deckhand // Jeremy Finn
Jeremy was born and raised in Kelowna, British Colombia in Canada; his beautiful surroundings led him to grow up in an active and outdoors environment, wake boarding and water skiing on Lake Owanagan. Jeremys passion for sports led him to be two time national volley ball champion before heading to university and graduating with a degree in Marketing MGMT & Communications. Post study Jeremy trained and worked as a forest fire fighter before deciding to ride his motorcycle across Canada and down to Florida where he discovered yachting and M/Y Broadwater. Jeremy is excited to welcome you onboard and share adventures on the water.
Chef // Carlos Concha
Carlos was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. He attended private school in Bogota until his mandatory military service after high school. Upon completion, he attended university to study architecture. It was during this time that Carlos discovered his passion for cooking and food. Under the advice and guidance of one of Colombias famous chefs, he was encouraged to move to Vancouver, Canada to attend culinary school. After completing his 2-year Culinary Arts Diploma Carlos had the opportunity to apprentice and work in various high-end establishments. He has been cooking for almost 20 years and prides himself in using the most local, fresh and organic ingredients possible wherever he may be. His cooking styles vary from classical French cuisine, to Italian, Asian, Latin and west coast fare.
Chief Stewardess // Chloe De Vito
Chloe was born in Banff, Alberta, in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. She started ski racing at an early age and by the age of 12 was also snowboarding and competing in half pipe and boarder cross competitions. Born to European parents she had the opportunity to live between Canada and France and attended school in both countries until the age of 18. Upon completion of high school she moved to Vancouver where she completed a degree in Broadcast Journalism and later on, studies in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing. Prior to yachting, Chloe worked in the luxury fashion industry. She joined the yachting industry 6 years ago to take a break from her land based career and has had the pleasure to have travelled to over 40 countries whilst working onboard some of the worlds most beautiful yachts. She looks forward to making your stay onboard a memorable one.
Second Stewardess // Leigh Anne Cawood
Leigh Anne is from Johannesburg, South Africa. She completed her degree at university in Hospitality where she gained a thorough general knowledge of customer service, housekeeping and laundry skills which prepared her well for her new venture in yachting. Broadwater is her first vessel and she is thrilled to be a part of our team. Prior to yachting, Leigh Anne was employed with a leading luxury tour operations company and during her time there her desire for travel increased immensely, hence securing her desire to set out for the US and secure a position on a motor yacht as a Stewardess. Leigh Anne loves to hike, exercise and has a great interest in photography and scrapbooking.
Stewardess // Nadine Amsler
The daughter of an Austrian hotelier and Swiss mechanic, Nadine was born and raised in New Zealand. Prior to joining Broadwater, she worked on a 28m Sunseeker based in Monaco and also a 50m Trinity, completing two Atlantic crossings and cruising the Mediterranean and Caribbean seas. From a young age, Nadine was surrounded by hospitality and tourism, having grown up in a 5 star B&B in one of New Zealands most touristic towns, Paihia. It is therefore no wonder that she made the transition into the Yachting. Nadine has a passion for traveling, having finished her Marketing and Accounting degree in Barcelona, she continued to travel the world, with most recently a three week trip through Sri Lanka.
Stewardess // Chantal De Bruin
Originally from Durban in South Africa, Chantal started her life in corporate industry eventually working as an executive for Jaguar Land Rover, before finally succumbing to her love of the sea. Having been raised on the coast she has a natural wanderlust and after travelling all over the world for pleasure she finally settled into the yachting industry, joining M/Y Broadwater in January 2017. When not giving the best service possible Chantal loves to explore new places and anything that involves the outdoors
Chief Engineer // Scott Butler
Scott is from Durban, South Africa. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Caterpillar in South Africa and then began working on an oil rig before joining his first yacht at the age of 21. He started in the industry as a deckhand prior to transitioning into his true passion of engineering. His favorite part of his job is the challenges he is presented with and subsequently finding solutions for them. Scott recently purchased an equestrian farm in South Africa and he enjoys spending his time away there as well as free diving and spear fishing.
Second Engineer // Chris Nel
Growing up in New Zealand Chris has a love for the outdoors and the ocean. After leaving school Chris joined the navy for a brief time, which gave him a passion for boats. He spent much of his childhood in the water surfing and traveled the world as a surf instructor. He soon found himself in the French Alpes and in Canada snowboarding in the winter months of his travels before ending up in the yachting industry. He has completed 4 Atlantic crossings and cruised the Caribbean, East Coast USA, Bahamas and the Mediterranean. Chris is working towards obtaining his Y3 Engineering certification.
