Captain, Daniel Stafford

Daniel is from Yorkshire in England. As his father was an engineer, Daniel had the opportunity to travel and spend time growing up in Baghdad and the mountain kingdom of Lesotho in Africa - in between trips home to England. With his eyes having been opened to the cultures and cultures of the world at such an early age, it was only natural that Daniel would go on to pick up an Honours Degree in French, Spanish and Political Science from the University of Northumbria in Newcastle - and find his way into the exciting world of yachting.

Daniel, who holds a Yachtmaster's certificate, has logged over 72,000 sea miles during the past 13 years, 70,000 of those under sail alone. He has worked as both captain and crew - and on some occasions, cook! - on all manner of different boats, in many places around the world. He has sailed the Mediterranean and has made a number of crossings to South East Asia via the Indian Ocean. His experience on different vessels ranges from skippering a 27-foot sailing yacht to bosun-ing aboard a 295-foot motor yacht. In recent years, Daniel went from sailing yachts to motor yachts and was only tempted back into sailing by DAIMA's impressive performance.

Daniel is a keen sportsman with a love of mountain biking golf, wake boarding and most water sports. He holds a PADI Open Water Divers Licence and Rescue Diving Certificate. As captain of DAIMA, he is keen to sail the yacht at every opportunity.

Chef, Kksal Aslan, from Manisa, on Turkey's Aegean coast, has a passion for cooking - evident from his huge archive of recipes collected over the years. His career as a chef began at the age of 16 when he entered the kitchen of the ever-popular "Gemi Restaurants" as chef's assistant. For three years he learned the art of cookery, spending the winters in Izmir and the summers working in various restaurants in Bodrum and Marmaris. From 1998 onwards, he has worked exclusively on the sea, starting with Aegean Yacht's M/S MAGIC LIFE", and later, the popular charter yachts M/S HIC SALTA and M/S WHITE WINGS. He then spent 5 years working as chef for The Ofer Group, traveling across the Mediterranean as far as Corsica and Sardinia, through the Red Sea and around to Dubai during this time. Following this, he returned to Turkey where he took a wintertime intensive cooking course known as "Whirlpool Kitchen Arts", learning how to adapt recipes.

In 2011, Kksal took up his current position aboard DAIMA and continues to build on his repertoire, adding a number of his own recipes to the hundreds that he keeps. His favorites include Mediterranean cuisine, including a hugh variety of fish and seafood dishes, Italian pastas and pizzas, a small number of French dishes, and the Mediterranean salads which make good use of the delicious fresh salad greens that are readily available in Turkey. He can create meals to suit any palate and any dietary requirement. From vegetable quiches and savory pastries to tortes, profiteroles and souffl, Kksal is a very versatile chef for a very versatile yacht.

Stewardess, Sumru Dondaş was born in Istanbul. As a young woman, Sumru won a place at a prestigious high school - only to forgo this for an opportunity to live with her aunt in America. There she completed high school and went on to study two years of a journalism degree. She then spent 8 years in the film and television industry, with 4 years spent as Executive Director of an Art Direction and Production company and 4 years on her own, working with her own team of professionals. Needing a change of pace and a change of atmosphere, she gave up life in the film industry to move to the quiet port town of Gocek, where a chance meeting with a Venezuelan chef, helped land her a job on a yacht where she quickly learned all there was to learn about the role of "stewardess". Sumru has never looked back - working during the past years on large motor yachts, among these, a private 52 metre motor-yacht based in Istanbul. In 2011, she commenced work aboard the motor yacht, ARMADEUS, where she met with Captain Daniel.

Sumru speaks fluent English and has a wonderful, sunny personality. She has a love for the outdoors and loves to snow board and trek in the mountains of the Turkish coast

Engineer, mit Uysal, is from Iskenderun on Turkey's Mediterranean coast. mit, who has been with the yacht since the time of her construction and knows the yacht intimately, holds an Industrial Automation Engineer's degree from Antalya's Akdeniz University. From 2006 until the present day, he has worked on or alongside the sea, always in the wings as engineer for Pruva's fleet of yachts, and most recently DAIMA, whom he joined in 2009. mit knows the complete workings of the yacht's mechanical and electrical systems and ensures that everything remains in proper working order.

mit loves to ride motocross, go mountaineering and keep fit with water sports in his spare time.

Deckhand/Steward Ibrahim was born in Izmir in 1975 and graduated from a trade college with a "Ship's Engineer" diploma in 1994. In furthering his education, he went on to attend a University course in Tourism and Hospitality School, and with this diploma commenced his career onboard the gulet, M/S BAHRIYELI - serving two summer seasons as steward and bar attendant. He then took a full-time position at the Izmir Hilton as waiter and bar attendant. His next step, was to find his way to Cyprus, where he worked at the Colony Hotel, meeting the owner of DAIMA, who was keen to have him join the yacht as crew.

Ibrahim has been with the yacht since before the time of her launch and is an integral part of the crew, having mastered all aspects of on board service.
