Captain: Emile De Moor
Languages: Dutch, English, French
Master unlimited, Master commercial yachting up to
300GRT, Security officer, GMDSS operator
Hobbies: Windsurfing, skiing, tennis, drums
Sailing small dinghies since he was 8 years old, Emile never lost his interest for sailing ever since. As a consequence, he became a sailing instructor for over 10 years at the Belgian coast. So intrigued by the sea, he started his study as Master in Nautical Sciences at the Antwerp Maritime Academy in 2004, where he graduated in 2008. He worked at sea on big gas carriers, dredging ships, and rock-dumping vessels for 8 years, while spending all his spare time on sailing dinghies and yachts. He was also a regular in the sailing competition scene in Knokke at the Belgian coast. Next to that, he cruised on various yachts all over the Mediterranean, the North Sea, and the Atlantic Ocean. He loves to share his passion and knowledge about the seas and sailing with all guests with a keen interest, and understands perfectly the fine balance between hospitality and discreetness.
Yann has been on S/Y Vintage on and off for the past 2 years doing deliveries and charters as a deckhand. Since September 2016 he signed on full time to become 1st mate and was a great help during The refit of Vintage. Summer 2017 onwards, he will remain on board as 1st Mate. Yann leaned from the previous Captain of Vintage what true hospitality and client happiness means. He is a young quick learner, who knows the ship inside out and is always happy to help in service. As a person, Yann is one of the kindest crewmembers you will ever meet. His extensive travelling in centra America and all his (sometimes volunteered) working on several yachts in the Caribbean, gives him a good knowledge of cultural differences, a respect for all kinds of people and has many interesting stories.
