Yacht MARAE

MARAE, pronounced Mar-eye 108' Pilothouse Sloop, "Best Sailing Yacht", International Superyacht Design Award, 2004

The name Marae has origins from the native Maori tribe in New Zealand meaning a special meeting place for family and friends. With Marae's New Zealand construction by Alloy Yachts, the name is a natural fit.

This elegant yacht must be seen to fully appreciate her but in the interim the following description must suffice.

On deck Marae has a private aft cockpit with collapsible spray hood and direct access to the master stateroom. This cockpit area is equipped with large cushions for lounging. A fold out stern section provides comfortable steps and a sturdy swim platform.

Moving forward are the port and starboard steering stations, followed by a covered center cockpit with U-shaped sofas to port and starboard and hi-lo table for dinner or cocktails. These areas can be converted to lounging pads. Side windows slide open and a removable aft Isenglass curtain protects against the elements. A protected helm station is located to starboard.

Captive winches keep the teak decks free of clutter.

The interior woodwork on MARAE consists of stained walnut and is complemented by luxurious fabrics and crisp white linens, down duvets and down pillows in the staterooms.

The upper saloon has a full wet bar with stools and a leather U-shaped sofa with coffee table that converts into a comfortable lounging area with panoramic views.

Main saloon with comfortable sofas, coffee table and dining table seating six is located below, galley and crew areas are forward of the saloon and guest accommodations aft of the saloon.

The master stateroom is full width aft with private access to the aft deck. Centerline queen size bed, office and en suite bath room. Roomy stall shower with built in seat. Private staircase from the master stateroom to the aft cockpit.

Double guest cabin with en suite bath room, stall shower and built in shower seat.

Twin guest cabin with Pullman berth and en suite bath room and stall shower.

Captain: Andrew Kaiser

Andrew is a native Texan who developed a passion for sailing as a young boy, purchasing his first boat at the age of 13. While studying at the University of Texas, he cultivated this passion by sailing his own boat and being active in several university sailing organizations. After university, Andrew chose to pursue sailing professionally and has worked as Captain, Mate and/or Engineer aboard several different sailing vessels. These vessels have included traditional square-rigged ships to modern super yachts along the New England coast, the Caribbean, the Great Lakes, the Mediterranean, and the North Sea. Prior to coming aboard Marae, Andrew served as the captain of an English yacht for three years. In this time he sailed to 22 countries, logging approximately 50,000 miles. He has earned and currently holds a US Coast Guard 200 GT near-coastal license, a Royal Yachting Association Yachtmaster Oceans of 200 GT, as well as a selection of auxiliary qualifications. Arwyn proudly hails from Houston, Texas. Her love of sailing began as a teenager and continued at university while she earned a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and Mass Communication. After graduation, she took her first professional sailing position as mate/ cook aboard a 74 foot, square rigged vessel. She then served aboard a 124 foot sailing ketch as Chief Stewardess, sailing between New England, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. Most recently, Arwyn has spent 3 years aboard an English yacht as the chef, where she has enjoyed exploring local ingredients and absorbing new culinary styles in the different countries she visited. Having the gift of hospitality, Arwyn is committed to perfecting her culinary talent. She has studied formally at the Ashburton School of Cookery in England, and has consistently impressed guests aboard. In her spare time, Arwyn enjoys diving, hiking and traveling.

Stewardess: Jess Strunk

Jess grew up in Knoxville, TN where she developed her love of the outdoors through exploring the Great Smoky Mountains and spending her summers enjoying the neighboring lakes. She enjoys diving, cooking, nutrition, gardening, and teaching yoga in her free time.

After 10 years in the service and hospitality industry, Jess caught the travel bug and searched for a lifestyle where she could travel and work at the same time. In 2013 she set off on her yachting career, where her passions for meeting new people and adventure comes alive.

Her beautiful table-scapes, lavish cocktails, and first class service make our guests feel right at home. Her witty humor and energy filled personality makes her a perfect part of the Marae Crew. She can't wait to welcome you aboard!

Jeremy is the First Mate / Engineer aboard Marae. His job is to keep the boat in ship shape and ensure smooth sailing for everyone on board. Jeremy is also the person in charge of Marae's many toys. Whether you wish to race around in the Lasers, kayak, paddleboard, or use one of the towable tubes, wakeboards, or water skis, Jeremy will make sure everything is prepared for a fun, safe time.

Growing up sailing on the Hudson River in New York, Jeremy has cultivated a life-long passion for the sea. Before joining Marae, Jeremy was captain of a 72' wooden schooner offering tours of the Narragansett Bay. With more than 5 years in the yachting industry Jeremy holds his 200 Ton USCG captain's license and is a PADI Advanced Diver.
